Love to Sing? Join Us – It’s Like Karaoke, But Classier!

Hey, you. Yes, you. Sitting there wondering if you’re too busy, too shy, or (heaven forbid) too “out of practice” to join a choir. Let us stop you right there – if you can hum along to the radio or belt out “Dancing Queen” in the shower, Avon Harmony A Cappella Chorus wants YOU!

We’re not a scary group of musical theatre divas or overly competitive performers. We’re just women who love to sing and laugh – sometimes at the same time. So, why not start 2025 with six weeks of music, harmony, and unapologetic joy?

The Lowdown on Singing with Us

Here’s what you need to know:

📅 When: Thursdays, 23rd January to 27th February 2025, 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
📍 Where: Glenfrome Primary School, Bristol (yes, we have free parking because we care about your sanity)
💸 Cost: £15 for adults, £10 for students (cheaper than a night at the pub and way less regretful the next morning)

What You’ll Actually Be Doing

We’ll teach you how to sing two brilliant songs in gorgeous four-part harmony:
🎶 The Lighthouse Keeper by Sam Smith – soulful, stunning, and sure to make you feel like a musical queen.
🎶 Take A Chance on Me by ABBA – because, let’s face it, life needs more ABBA.

You’ll get everything you need: sheet music (no need to actually read it, don’t panic), singalong tracks, and expert coaching. No auditions, no solos, and absolutely zero Simon Cowell-style judgments.
 

Who’s This For?

Short answer: YOU.

Longer answer: If you’re a woman aged 18+ who has even the slightest inkling that singing might be fun, come along. We have women from all decades of their lives from their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and older, so you’ll fit right in whether you’re looking for a new hobby or just trying to escape from your family for two hours. We are striving to be inclusive and try to make everyone feel welcome.
 

But What If…?

We’ve heard it all before, so here’s the lowdown on those “what ifs” swirling around in your head:

“What if I’m terrible at singing?”
You’re not. (Seriously.) And even if you are, that’s what the group is for. A choir isn’t about perfection – it’s about blending voices, having fun, and occasionally laughing when we all mess up a tricky bit together.

“What if I don’t know my voice type?”
Soprano? Alto? Who cares? We’ll figure it out for you in the first week.

“What if I’m coming alone?”
Most people do! And here’s a secret: we’re all as nervous as you are the first time. But within ten minutes, you’ll be laughing with us – because singing together has this magical way of turning strangers into friends.

“What if it snows?”
We’re not singing “Let It Go” in a blizzard. If the weather’s bad, we’ll reschedule.
